The small church is part of a farm at Núpsstaður, which derives its name from Lomagnupur. The 17th century church was renovated in 1972. Lomagnupur table mountain, in South Iceland, is at the southern end of a mountain chain running nearly to the Sidujokull glacier. At 767 metres high, it is one of the highest cliffs in Iceland.
